Peggle. I know, it looks and sounds like something Puff the Magic Dragon thought up while he was high on kitten fluff, but trust me - it's something worth looking at. This ....colourful... edition to my normal list of reviews is a sudden change, but like a butterfly spreading its wings for the first time and crawling out of its cocoon, I will go eat a sandwich and this review this thang. What? Yes, I know the simile had nothing to do with eating a sandwich, I just wanted you to think of a butterfly, it worked didn't it? Read on to find out more about this wonderful game that drained me of many hours of my life, which i could have spent creating a cure for cancer or donating one of my eyeballs to charity...
It's recently come to my attention that I have been reviewing games that are far too mature for the audience I have aimed my reviews at, so I decided to (finally) review something suitable for all audiences (yay).
Peggle is a game that involves you firing balls out of a cannon to try and hit all of the orange pegs, while hitting as many blue ones as possible. Incredibly simple. And that's it. Yup, all you do is fire balls out of a cannon aiming at little magically coloured bricks to score points. It's simple, but do you know what? It's so simple, that its actually fun. The gameplay works incredibly well, you start with 10 balls at the beginning of each level where you have to hit all of the orange pegs to get to the next level, sure it sounds a bit repetitive but there are little power ups and other bonuses mixed in to the cake mix too, to spicen things up a bit. Though I'm not sure why you'd add spice to a cake... One of the real fun things about this game is how everything seems so 'friendly', you know, like that guy who watches you through the window at night and gives you cookies when you go over his place... anyway. There are clear backgrounds and colour everywhere that even a one year old would enjoy, hell, a one year old could probably play this game it's so simple. I don't really understand how this game is so much fun, it has simplicity equivalent to tetris, (the very first one, not these newfangled tetris 3D games or whatever they're bringing out now) but has the replayability of a bar of chocolate that you can repeatedly churn out from your stomach and eat again. | ![]()

This game has already been out for several years on the PC but Popcap the developers have re-released Peggle in different incarnations and surprisingly are still selling well today, it's like they are trying to get EVERYONE of EVERY generation to know and love this game, maybe Popcap are creating an army of sorts to take over the world and Mercury? I don't know, but people are coming to know and love the game that is known as "Peggle". |

There's not much else to say about Peggle, it's so simple that I've pretty much explained everything that you can do in the game, which may lead you to believe that the game is quite repetitive? Perhaps, but I didn't care, because when I played the game I felt like I was playing something as epic as Super Mario or Call of Duty 4, of course it never gets as intense as the games I mentioned (ESPECIALLY Super Mario) it has a certain level of charm that you can't help but love...
....BUT for those who like a bit of violence Popcap have catered to you too, see they saw that some of you have an enjoyment for violence, even a fetish perhaps and decided to cater for you lot too, myself included. Peggle EXTREME is Peggle, but EXTREEEEEEEME. How EXTREEEEEEEEEME? You'll have to find out yourself how EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME it is yourself.
Well, there you have it, my "Family" review, now can I get back to my normal reviews please?
