Invaders Must Die by The Prodigy

The long awaited comeback album from everyone's favourite Drum & Bass band is finally here, and with lots of promotion all over the internet, tv and radio people will have been expecting a lot from this chapter in The Prodigy's attempt on musical world domination. Let's put this cd in my drive and give it a thorough listen to (: ... Which one do I use, there's 2 cd's!!! *Shock Horror!*

All is well, one of the cd's is actually a Dvd, so all is well *breathes*.

But while I wait for my cup of tea to brew downstairs, I shall have a look at the artwork and insert as is the proper way to do it. Amongst nicely photoshopped pictures is the image of a wall with the lyrics from the main single from this album, [You've probably heard it by now] called Omen; "The Writing's On The Wall". Lovely. This is a big show of the reliance put on this first single, let's hope it's as good as they think it is.
The insert is a mass of retro style sci-fi images, obviously doing their best to relate to the unusual title. Images of police and satelites with a few pictures of the band; a jumped up live picture, and a stylised posey picture. The most unusual things being the black member of the band riding a tricylce, which he can pull off rather well, and the orange sections of the images, like lightning bolts relating to the album logo.
A frightening lack of lyrics, which is a little typical for The Prodigy's music, so I doubt there'll be a massive change in the band's sound, a few "thank you's" and a quick message of "Protect Yourself" on the back cover in the same style as the other part I mentioned earlier.

Ahhh, Good old tea ^_^.

...Moving on O_<

The track's list includes 11 tracks, so let's get on and criticise this theng!

Now, prior to getting this album, everyone was going on at me like "Have you heard Prodigy's new song; Omen?" Firstly it's The Prodigy...
And yes, I have heard it and it is rather catchy, but that's all I can say for it really.
The synthesisers used give a good dancey sound to it, but where's the bass? I miss proper drum and bass :(
And why have the main tune to the song played on a xylophone? This is one question scientists will ponder over for years to come, while coming up with a cure for my tea addiction.
A good track, but maybe a little overrated as a single, this is where I expected the Prodigy to really show that they can do something different with their music, but I can't say I was expecting anything that amazing...

This song I can see as soon becoming a dancefloor classic, I walk down the street listening to this song, and instantly feel totally hardcore, I like this song.
Sure, the lyrics totally suck; "Are you ready for the war?.. Show your colours, Bring your colours to the floor" Yeah, you've gotta love it really. But you just can't help but bop along to it, it's that catchy!
Now if this song isn't made into a single I will be most dissapointed, 'cos this is what I think the Prodigy should be doing more of, dancey, up-beat songs that make you wonder why they chose to stick a child's choir towards the end of the song.
Because it sounds good, that's why!

The opening track to this album, right... Here we go!

Good so far...

Good...

Yes...

Come On...

Nice guitars...

OH MY GOSH!
Not too bad, but sounding a lot like Pendulum in this first minute and a half, maybe the masters of "Dance-Rock" are taking lessons from their Australian rivals.
Diving straight into it with a synthesised voice declaring that "We are the Prodigy" just in case we all forgot... But all in all not bad for an opening track, much better than all this other drum & bass nonsense I've been fed recently, believe me, I'm getting fat.
The lack of proper lyrics other than the title repeated makes this song a little repetitive.

"I hear thunder, but there's no rain. This kind of thunder breaks walls and window panes" Umm... Right.
A very reggae style to the vocals for this song, but as with all songs in it's class, these lyrics will become impossibly annoying to you after the 37th listen.
Now here's where the bass is, apart from that dratted chorus, this song delivers a good sound which people will be bopping to in their cars for the rest of the year.

The next song I couldn't be bothered with, 'cos I really didn't think that much of it at all, but it's up to you what you think of this song... Obviously you're opinion is totally wrong.

Now this song bemuses me.
Starting with an interesting saxaphone playing a foreboding tune, but then changing into a typical dance song, with a waily womans voice inviting you to the dancefloor.
Maybe this song shows what the Prodigy are becoming, another dance band. Please say not!
Now the end of the song confuses me too, a random skit at the end involving a siren... Strange.

Now I will leave you to listen to the rest of the album to give it your opinion, I reccomend it but I think you'd be better off buying "Their Law" the best of the Prodigy if you're concidering getting into the band.
Regular listeners of the band won't be dissapointed by the new album, so go and enjoy it, but I think I'm gonna have to steal your thunder and rumble about the album as a whole [Hehe, I made a punny].
I'd rate this album about:

                 5 / 10

That's if I could be bothered...

But since I'm lazy I'll just type this before I fall asleep on the keyboard.
Have fun kids!
