A Sense of Purpose by In Flames
Here we go, the 9th Studio Album from everyone's favourite Swedish Metal Band; In Flames. Originally they were one of those really grimey Melodic Death Metal Bands who think they're that cool that they don't need to swear or do anything so vulgar as that to emphasise themselves, but has playing this long taken it's toll on their sound? I just had to find out.

Right, here we go... (:

Umm, oh dear...
I can only feel dissapointed after listening to this album, it seems they have taken a route down the "Pop-Metal" road, which is very strange for a band noted for being "Melodic Death Metal" The "Death" part of this seems to have been completely removed from the equation like a bad egg is plucked from an omlette but in this case it would have been better to leave that egg in. This album seems to contain similar crooning themes to most metal albums at this time, like everyone's trying to please the mainstream which is extremely difficult to do when one is classed as metal. To those Fascist fools who seem to rule the mainstream seem to regard "metal" as a curseword *mutters to self*. Curse you Simon, X Factor and you profainers of the sanctity of decent music calling yourself "Camp Rock". Nowardays it takes something more than a slight change in style to dive into the mainstream, in past times a band doing something new would be regarded as interesting, but In Flames aren't exactly drawing much attention to themselves. I'm not saying it's a bad album or anything, honest, this is how I talk about everything I like, of course it has it's good points.
I mean, look at the artwork!!!
I mean, come on, you can't think that's not cool!?
According to my "sources" the artwork was done by the same guy responisble for bands like the Used and Aiden, and Lord knows we don't want In Flames to go down that route too.
A quirky, sketchy style which you'd usually associate with other "emo" bands like those mentioned, and as we said before, In Flames are Melo-Death! Mkey..? > <
Now all those who know In Flames well will recognise that fellow above as the "Jester Head" who is always associated with the band and with a picture like that I'd like to see In Flames making their next few albums associated with the theme of the Owl headed boy and the struggle he goes through, but one seriously doubts that...
Now the part that everyone waits for,
I go through the tracks and comment...
Well I'm afraid I was not feeling in the right mood for that, so here's a lemon.

- Track 1 The Mirror's Truth ::: Listen to this one...
- Track 2 Disconnected
- Track 3 Sleepless Again ::: Listen, but ignore the chorus?
- Track 4 Alias ::: Why did they make this one a single?????
- Track 5 I'm the Highway
- Track 6 Delight & Angers ::: Sounds too similar to track 1 at first, but it's alright (:
- Track 7 Move Through Me
- Track 8 The Chosen Pessimist ::: The longest In Flames song ever, worth a listen!
- Track 9 Sober & Irrelevant
- Track 10 Condemned ::: Not a bad song, I can tolerate this.
- Track 11 Drenched in Fear
- Track 12 March to the Shore
Other than the ones I've noted there there's really not much impressive about the album, you might as well get "The Mirror's Truth" Single, which has some tracks that really should have been on the album apart from the mainstream drivel that's been put out here.
Final verdict...
4/10
Please make something better next time please?
